The rope access technician is a worker who intervenes on work sites carried out at heights where access is difficult and cannot be carried out safely by means other than ropes.

The training prepares for professional certification (CQP) which validates the ability to:

  • Work safely in all areas of work at height on ropes: public works, industry, construction, cleaning, live shows, rescue, etc.
  • Perform progression and equipment techniques in a vertical environment adapted to the circumstances

The rope access technician is autonomous in carrying out the tasks assigned to him, but is not autonomous in making decisions concerning the technical choices to be made to secure rope access or the workstation. They are accompanied on their work at height by a rope access technician, who passes on the necessary instructions for the safe execution of the tasks.


  • Evaluate the knots in use to ensure that they are strong
  • Fit the knots in common use referenced by the profession in order to secure the movement and belay systems
  • Install moorings according to the supports designated by the employer in order to secure the movement and belay systems
  • Install ropes and/or personal protection systems against falls from a height from anchorage points defined by the employer or supervisor to ensure safe access to and installation of the workstation
  • Use progression techniques appropriate to the configuration of a site in order to move around on the same level and at a height in complete safety
  • Move sideways, from top to bottom and vice versa, using progression techniques in suspension appropriate to the configuration of the site and enabling safe movement
  • Use belaying techniques for your team-mate progressing with support on an existing structure in order to prevent him/her from falling
  • Apply the means of risk prevention at the workstation communicated in writing or orally, to ensure their safety and that of their team-mates and/or co-workers
  • Apply the operating procedures for carrying out work at a height so as to be able to detect any deviations from reality and report them to their superiors
  • Continuously monitor the maintenance of the means of prevention when carrying out a task so as to ensure their safety and that of their team-mates
  • Apply and use the appropriate tools, equipment and materials in safety so as to prevent falls
  • , equipment and materials in order to carry out a task safely.
  • Use progression equipment, and protection against falls from a height to ensure that rope access work is carried out correctly
  • Check that progression and fall arrest equipment in use is in good condition in order to anticipate any failure problems
  • Ergonomically set up the workstation to carry out a task in order to avoid postural constraints and injuries
  • Comply with general instructions and use the devices provided to evacuate your workstation safely.
  • Communicate within the team in order to carry out the tasks to be performed
  • Communicate with the other players in connection with the task to be performed in order to anticipate the constraints of the coactivity
  • Evacuate a technician using a fall arrest system by means of a standardised evacuation device in order to provide assistance
  • Perform techniques for caring for a victim on ropes in a simple work situation in order to facilitate the care of the victim by the emergency services

Total maximum duration of 301 hours, including 35 hours on the job and 266 hours at the training centre.
The duration of the course is indicative and will be determined according to your profile.
